StA has so much research it is broken up into 5 tabs and each single tab has more research options in it than Endzone has in the entire game. One last thing is research, in Endzone it is a pretty simple and small research tree while in StA it is almost overwhelming. In StA running out of certain resources will happen and usually just when you need those resources the most. StA is pretty fast paced, does not forgive at all if you do something wrong and not a game where you just casually sit back and build a colony that can last for years. Endzone is slower paced, more forgiving and very relaxed. I would suggest watching some youtube videos on both because honestly they are very different games that appeal to different groups of gamers. Sometimes they turn hostile and attack you instantly. In StA it is random, groups show up at your gate and you accept or decline them. In Endzone your population grows as you build houses and they produce kids. Also most random events in StA are multi stage requiring you to go to several areas and do things. In StA there are tons of random events and most require fighting or picking the correct option, pick wrong it will probably cost you by not giving you anything and one or more of your people injured. Now it takes 2 or 3 and it will be a long fight.Įndzone has some random quests but I never got a lot of them. World map is gigantic and full of resources but the good resources will require your specialist's fighting to get control of them and the raiders guarding them are usually pretty tough, no more sending in 1 specialist and wiping them out quickly. Now you must build scout towers and slowly uncover areas. You no longer freely explore the huge starting map uncovering all the resources. There are 2 maps, starting map and world map. On top of that in StA it is not uncommon to get back to back disasters just to test your survival ability. In StA it is meteors that destry buildings and kill anyone they hit, falling space junk that does the same as meteors, nuclear fallout where anyone outdoors will probably get radiation sickness, plague which will spread fast and is deadly if not treated quickly, heat waves that will force you to build lots of water suppliers, electrical storms that shut down anything electrical and probably will destroy your electricity producing buildings and cold snaps that will shut down buildings not in the radius of a heating fire and you will quickly burn through all of your firewood supply. In Endzone it is droughts and dust storms which neither is a serious threat. Natural disasters are brutal and have ended many of my games. Raiders will attack you again killing people and burning down buildings. Wildlife will attack you often killing people and destroying buildings, you will grow to hate sandworms. It is common to run out of food or not produce the right foods so your people get malnourished. StA will try to kill you on day one and never let up, it is like it waits for you to make a wrong move and it punish's you harshly. It is a relaxing game without much stress or quick thinking. Once you get the food production down and a population to cover the death waves that come then you are pretty much home free. I play both and both are fun but I have more hours in StA simply because I enjoy games with more combat and games where if you do one thing wrong your game is pretty much over.Įndzone is great at building a colony and nurturing it into something big and it gives you plenty of supplies to accomplish that. StA is a game where a lot of things try and do kill your settlers, Endzone is a more peaceful colony builder along the lines of Banished.
